The mission of WCAAI is to:

•	Educate the country on the accomplishments of Bessie Coleman and other Aviation and Aerospace pioneers both past and present.

•	Encourage young men and women in the African American community and other minority groups interested in Aviation and Aerospace career opportunities.

•	Assist individuals in gaining access to available resources and scholarships to advance equal opportunity in participation in the Aviation and Aerospace industry in all communities.

•	Prepare Aviation and Aerospace enthusiasts for the challenges they will encounter in the industry.

August 18-19, 2007 – WCAAI Fly-in Celebration/Chicago Air and Water Show. The WCAAI Fly-in Celebration is hosted by the City of Gary Indiana and will be held at the Chicago/Gary International Airport, Gary Indiana. This event will commemorate the 86th Anniversary of Bessie Coleman earning her pilot's license.

Trailblazer Bessie Coleman was forced to go to France to become the first licensed black pilot in 1921. Not since she barnstormed in the early 1920's to raise money to open a flying school has there been an event of this magnitude!

•	Honor and celebrate the achievements of Women of Color in the Aviation and Aerospace industry.
