Women of Color in Aviation and Aerospace International, Incorporated (WCAAI), is an affiliate of the Women of Color Community Education Initiative (WCCEI). WCAAI is a non-profit organization founded by Lt Col Beverly Armstrong to continue the legacy of Bessie Coleman. Our mission is to "encourage participation and provide opportunity in the field of Aviation and Aerospace so all individuals may realize their full potential." WCAAI seeks to educate the country on the accomplishments of pioneers like Bessie Coleman and other women of color in the aviation and aerospace industry as we celebrate our past, present and future. WCAAI will encourage and mentor young men and women in the African-American community and other minority groups interested in Aviation and Aerospace career opportunities.
WCAAI will assist individuals in gaining access to available resources and scholarships for the advancement of the Aviation and Aerospace industry including Science and Technology. We will also mentor those preparing for Aviation and Aerospace careers and prime them for the challenges they will encounter. One of the most important goals of WCAAI will be to honor and celebrate the achievements of Women of Color in the Aviation and Aerospace industry. This goal will be achieved through documenting and educating our communities on their historical achievements and contributions. |
