Women of Color in Aviation and Aerospace International, Incorporated (WCAAI) presents Women of Color in Aviation and Aerospace Fly in Celebration in collaboration with the Chicago Air Show hosted by the city of Gary Indiana. This event will be held at the Gary/Chicago International Airport on August 18-19, 2007. Additional highlights/activities for the WCAAI celebration are being planned in the City of Chicago earlier in that week. The WCAAI event will commemorate the 86th Anniversary of Bessie Coleman earning her pilot's license. The goals of this celebration are:

  • To increase public awareness of the amazing contributions of women to the history and future of the industry.
  • To provide an opportunity for parents and children to learn about available career options in aviation and aerospace.
  • To enable the public to meet, witness and interact with men and women in this industry.
  • To expand national and international media coverage highlighting this exciting industry.

This event will spotlight the myriad military and commercial career choices in the industry by underscoring science and technology as pivotal requirements for students to achieve their goals. Today, many still have not had the opportunity to witness and share the dreams and accomplishments of these men and women. As we all know, the difference in someone's life might come down to "seeing is believing." Positive role models are essential to one's ability to succeed. Through partnerships with school systems, we will down link web casts to engage those students unable to attend.
